Create Your Own Heirloom Tomato with crosses by Bill Jeffers.
LIMIT ONE PACK PER VARIETY!
The following seeds are from various lines of segregating custom crosses that are recombining with various traits inherent to the parent varieties. The gardener may expect to get varied results from plant to plant with regard to fruit size, color, growth habit, and productivity. However, with proper care and feeding, each plant will respond with surprising and superior results from which the grower can select season to season until the preferred traits become stable. The bonus is arriving at a unique, new variety that each grower may name after a child, grandparent, or other favorite object of affection. Create your own heirloom tomato!
These seeds offered in this section are in very limited supply which is accounts for the difference in price and number of seeds. Great care has been taken to make crosses that yield unique and superior tomatoes with heirloom characteristics. All seeds were fermented and then washed in a sterile bath to remove pathogens from the seed coat.
For the best results, the grower should plant all of the seeds, and then select the more vigorous and healthy specimens for transplanting into the garden. Start the seeds in a dampened, high quality seed starting medium covered to about twice the thickness of the seed. A very thin layer of moist sand often helps pare off the seed coats as they emerge. Keep the starter mix moist but not soaking wet, covered to retain the moisture and warmth. Set the starter tray in a warm place, 75 – 80 degrees Fahrenheit, for up to one week to stimulate full germination. As soon as the first sprouts appear, move the entire starting unit directly under florescent lights sufficient to produce strong growth. The sprouts should be as close to the florescent tubes as possible without touching them. No guarantee is made or implied by the supplier of this custom crossed seeds other than to affirm that many of my friends have grown many fine tomatoes from these same seeds.
